(Artist and promoter of cultural dialogue)
Selected private collections: Dubai, India, and USA “Meditation comes to me as I take on my journey with LIFE at its best. This endeavour is not just a visual interpretation, but a work of stillness toward my will to form.” “It is an internal journey of outward expression of the nature of love, free of restrained, full of freedom aligned with the power of the universe.” – Gouri Shankar Mukherjee Since 1968, Gouri’s ‘work of art’ vividly demonstrated pleasing forms of the nature of dignity, rhythm, speed, sensibility, dialogue, serenity, spirit and manifestations. Charcoal, pen and ink, crayons, and watercolour have been used intensively as a medium. Presently he utilizes his time drawing nature of life from his environment. He is a promoter of cultural dialogue amongst children and is a visionary artist. He learnt art from Santosh K Roy Choudhury in his schooldays. And later he grew up professionally under the guidance of Late Sh. Bimal Das Gupta, Late Sh. Pranab Chakraborty, Sh. Paramjit Singh, Sh. Krishan Ahuja, Sh. P Mahajan, Late Sh. S. Sen Roy, Late Sh. S.K. Bhattacharya, Late Sh. Mickey Patel, and Sh. Sudhir Deokar. “Gouri also makes a conscious effort” as Satya Narayanan R writes, “to affect the next generation through his positive thoughts and artistic expertise. In my own estimation, that is the most visible mark we leave when we are gone. Our impact lasts a wee-bit longer when children of today pick a thing or two and perpetuate the goodness of it in their own lives and in the world around them. I am sure Gouri's mentoring of these children will multiply the goodness in its own infinitesimal way.” Between 1974 and 2000, Gouri worked for advertising agencies mostly as a creative director: Hindustan Thompson Associates, Ogilvy & Mather, Clarion McCann, Contract, J Walter Thompson, on diversified brands ... Ashok group of hotels, Escorts, Hamdard, Horlics, Nescafe, Milkmaid, Nespray, Lifebouy, Lux, Dabur Chyawanprash, Brylcream, Coke, Ford, Ambassador, MTV, MTNL, Magicook, Usha Lexus, Mera Bharat Mahan, and British Airways to name a few. He has conceptualized and created magazine brands like: Soma, Destination India, Diplomatic Corp, Indian Hotelier and caterer, and Hughs World to name a few. He has received recognition and awards for advertising campaigns in prints and films, editorial design, hotel and corporate graphics ... Won National Award from the President of India (1984) for the 'Best Designer' under POP category. 1988: He designed a philatelic stamp for ‘the first war of independence’, using M.F. Husain’s painting.
